He is the clinical director of the UK IBD and the IBD lead for the Modernising outpatient programme in Scotland. His specific interests are improving the quality of care for patients with IBD. He also takes part in clinical trials and clinical research. He has published on a number of aspects of inflammatory bowel disease.

Training

He trained in medicine at St Andrew’s and Manchester University. He completed his postgraduate training in gastroenterology in Edinburgh and Los Angeles.
