Background

She is an specialist musculoskeletal radiologist with an interest in sports medicine, with over 15 years experience as a consultant working in a busy UK teaching hospital.

Training

She is a graduate of Nottingham University Medical school, where she gained an intercalated BMedSci degree in her third year before completing undergraduate medical BM, BS qualifications. She did her Junior House Officer posts locally, before returning to Manchester. She was awarded her MRCP qualification while undertaking medical SHO rotations in Macclesfield and at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, before deciding to pursue a career in radiology.

She trained in general radiology on the Manchester Postgraduate Radiology Training Scheme, before specialising in musculoskeletal radiology, with supplementary specialist musculoskeletal ultrasound training in Leeds. She gained further specialist experience as the Clinical Radiology Fellow at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, a national and internationally renowned department, before her appointment to a substantive consultant radiology post in 2001.

Clinical interests and areas of expertise

She is an experienced subspecialty trained musculoskeletal radiologist, with an interest in sports imaging. Her patients include elite professional athletes, including national /premiership football (soccer) players, rugby league players, amateur athletes and the general population. She has active interdisciplinary links with orthopaedic and spinal surgeons, physiotherapists, rheumatologists, podiatrists and sports physicians.

She is an expert in imaging a wide range of conditions affecting muscles, bones, joints and their associated soft tissues. She has expertise in multiple diagnostic imaging modalities, including conventional radiography interpretation, spinal and muculoskeletal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scans), computed tomography (CT scans), diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and DEXA imaging.

She regularly performs image guided injections, both diagnostic, including MR and CT arthrography, and therapeutic.
