Background

He is a Consultant in Medical Oncology with a sub-specialist interest in colorectal cancer, cancers of unknown primary (CUP) and a clinical trials investigator. He works at the largest single site Cancer Centre in Europe and is a core member of several multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) including the national peritoneal tumour board and regional hepatobiliary service.

He is active in the clinical governance infrastructure to ensure safe patient management and was Chair for Clinical Audit for 2 years. He is part of the Consultant Appraisar Panel and inpatient mortality monitoring board and developed the 30 day systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) related death database.

Training

Following his post-graduate degree in Medicine, he entered the specialist medical oncology training programme in Manchester at The Christie Hospital. He undertook 2 years of out of program research in angiogenesis. Following completion of his oncology training he was appointed Consultant in Medical Oncology in 2007 with specialist interest in colorectal oncology. He has particular interests in the multidisciplinary management of colorectal cancer, clinical trials, liver directed therapies and immunotherapy.

His primary focus is to personalise a patient’s treatment plan in accordance with their molecular and clinical presentation while keeping the patient’s needs and quality of life at the centre of this process.

Besides English, he is fluent in Hindi, Urdu & Gujarati.
