Background
He has been a Consultant Radiologist and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer since 1999.
He is the lead radiologist for radionuclide radiology at the RIE and PET/CT for NHS Upper GI cancer, hepatobiliary, endocrine and neuroendocrine tumour MDTs (multidisciplinary teams).
Training
He trained in medicine at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and completed his pre registration House jobs at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne and Whipps Cross Hospital, London.
He subsequently undertook general medical training in Newcastle and Fremantle, Western Australia and completed his Radiology training in Perth, Western Australia and Edinburgh, Scotland following which he took up his Consultant Radiologist post.
Clinical interests and areas of expertise
He practices general radiology with subspeciality interests in hepatopancreaticobiliary, gastrointestinal, neuroendocrine tumours, endocrine and bariatric radiology.
- He has particular clinical interests in hepatopancreaticobiliary and renal transplant radiology, thyroid (benign and cancer), parathyroid and adrenal imaging
- He has extensive experience in the radiology of bariatric surgery including image guided gastric band adjustments and member of the Bariatric team
- He is the lead radiologist for radionuclide radiology at the RIE and PET/CT for NHS
Research interests
He undertakes/collaborates in research projects in the areas of his clinical interests and has published in these areas in peer reviewed journals. He has given over 50 invited lectures at local, national and European meetings.
